Overlooking a lake and valley near Trambakeshwar, Nasik, the Patil Villa is designed to blend with nature. Given creative freedom, Vinay Patil Architects envisioned a contemporary 1300 sq ft, two-bedroom villa maximizing the breathtaking views from every room. The layout features two decks, a kitchen, and a medicinal garden.
A traditional Maharashtrian entrance leads into the open-plan living space, framed by large glass windows showcasing the valley. The master bedroom includes a private deck, while the second bedroom overlooks the valley. The client desires a traditional Maharashtrian aesthetic, to be achieved through antique furnishings. A large front yard and a backyard with a Plumeria tree and tiered vegetation are planned.
The contemporary design incorporates a single-slope roof, wooden windows with tinted glass, and a stone-textured exterior. Sustainability is prioritized with rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and locally sourced materials. The front yard will feature a mix of glass and pavers.
Steel is used for the sloping roof due to its durability and ease of construction. RCC footings and core/shell with brick walls complete the structure. AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 3D Studio Max were used for design and visualization.
Principal Architect Vinay Patil emphasizes the importance of client interaction and site visits in shaping a project’s vision. The Nasik bungalow celebrates nature, fusing contemporary design with Indian elements to create a country home for the client. Construction is underway and expected to be completed in six months.
